MAKYON wisely has his sights lowered here after finding a Royal Ascot Group 2 and Sandown Listed race a little much on his past two runs.
He was pitched into those after an impressive maiden win at Hamilton where he beats horses of the quality he faces today. This slight drop in trip holds no fears.
Clay Regazzoni is another who was outclassed at the Royal meeting but has solid form at this level and looks the danger.
HOUSE DEPOSIT is taking a big drop in class after finishing fifth at Doncaster last time out.
He has struggled a little to match his encouraging juvenile form but is down the weights too and this looks his best chance of winning all season.
Cardaw Lily can miss the kick but was right there at Ayr last time and has an each-way chance at fair odds.
ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS Don’t miss our in-depth preview of day one at Glorious Goodwood
LAND OF OZ has shown the improvement you might expect from a Sir Mark Prescott runner since being upped in distance.
He needed his comeback at Redcar and showed his rivals a clean pair of heels at Yarmouth last time. He should relish this further hike in trip and looks several pounds ahead of the handicapper.
Lord Lamington is consistent at this level and was a fair second at Catterick last time. He stays well and can chase the tip home.
LATEST IN HORSE RACING
LUZUM didn’t enjoy his trip to Chester last time but still did well to finish fourth.
He was earlier a gutsy winner at Thirsk and is at his best over this distance. He’s only 4lb higher than that win so won’t be far away.
Presidential was a solid fifth at Doncaster last time despite losing ground at the start. He’s had a little help from the handicapper since and takes a drop in class here which should help his chances.
JACKAMUNDO has taken a real step forward this season and he followed up a convincing Nottingham win with a bloodless success at Haydock last time.
He didn’t have to get out of first gear to score by five lengths. He sees out this 1m2f trip well and a 6lb rise for that last success seems pretty lenient.
Nicholas T has been running well with two wins and a second from his past three runs, all here. The most recent was over this distance and he’s clearly thriving at the moment.
PUDDING CHARE loves it here and can be forgiven one moderate effort last time when he didn’t get going.
He has already won twice at the track this season and will give another good account in an open contest.
Chinese Spirit is another who does well over this trip at Ayr and he has been beaten less than two lengths in his past couple of visits. He battled well whtn third last time and should be in the frame again.
PIAZON is a quirky customer but he has plenty of talent too as he’s shown with good runs at Thirsk, Redcar and last time at Musselburgh.
He was collared near the post there and this opposition looks a little weaker, which could make the difference.
Jacob’s Pillow was a good second in a big field here seven days ago and likes to keep it simple from the front. He’ll make another bold bid.
