Newly promoted Villa took the lead against the run of play with John McGinn slotting home after nine minutes in their Premier League opener.
Spurs, on the back of reaching the Champions League final last season, went out full of confidence, if a little rusty in front of goal.
They grabbed a goal back in the second half through Tanguy Ndombele.
There was little Lloris could do though as McGinn got ahead of Davinson Sanchez and managed to brush off a challenge from Danny Rose before sweeping the ball past the Frenchman.
Lloris is married to Marine who runs a childrenswear fashion and accessories brand.
The couple have two children and Marine is expecting a third baby any day now.
While Britain is dealing with a rain and strong winds, Marine is enjoying the sun in the south of France as the family are holidaying at a resort near Cannes.
She celebrated her 33rd birthday last Thursday and posted a pic where she is lying back in a pool with a hat to protect her from the sun.
Marine captioned it: “Such a beautiful day! “
She had more than 7,000 like and plenty of happy birthday messages.
She has uploaded other pics since with her baby bump clear to see.
Marine captioned another pic with: “My favourite season” with a sun emoji alongside.
Lloris, won the World Cup last year with France and helped Spurs to fourth place in the Premier League.
He wrote ahead of the Villa match: “I think the determination and the ambition is very high at our club.
“We all know the competitiveness of the Premier League and the Champions League. It’s not easy to win that type of competition but I think we have reduced the gap and now it’s all about details finding the right way to come even closer.”
