Tuesday report card: A first win for Chelsea Banham, a three-year-old to follow and a nightmare ride for Gavin Ashton

TUESDAY’S racing was far from the top-class Saturday action but there was still plenty going on around the country.

We’ve picked out some snippets you don’t want to have missed.

Hair-raising ride 😲

Who would be a jockey?! Poor Gavin Ashton had a nightmare ride on Sir Mark Prescott’s Whims Of Desire in the first at Lingfield. The three-year-old jumped right leaving the stalls but that was the least of Ashton’s worries.

As they headed round the turn near the exit to the paddock, Whims Of Desire decided that he’d had enough of racing and ducked out on the bend throwing Ashton over the rail. He certainly proved horses have a mind of their own…

Progressive youngster for Dalgleish 👀

Roman Stone certainly relished the heavy ground at Carlisle. The three-year-old made all, was given the hurry up and quickly drew clear under Joe Fanning. Keep an eye on him especially over winter when we’re racing in a bog.

Top spot for Chelsea Banham 🥇

Britain’s youngest trainer Chelsea Banham notched up her first winner as a trainer when Voice Of A Leader stormed home to win at Lingfield. The 20-year-old was only granted a license to train last month but is already looking forward to the future.

After her first winner Banham said: “He was always travelling well but I was speechless when he actually won!”
