Britain is set for its hottest day of the year today with temperatures hitting as high as 35C as the heatwave continues into the weekend.
Temperatures are predicted to soar across southern England, with London set to be a sweltering 35C (95F), Greg Dewhurst, from the Met Office, warned.
“It’ll be a cloudy start to the day but we’ll soon see lots of sunshine across the South East and central parts of England,” he said.
Once the cloud disappears, higher temperatures are expected into the afternoon, “particularly the further south and east you go”, Mr Dewhurst added.
Festival-goers at Glastonbury have been warned to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen by organisers as it looks to topple its record of 31.2 C in 2017 today.
Friday was the hottest day of the year so far, according to the Met Office with temperatures across Europe reaching new highs.
