SUMMER sunshine and 24C Azores heat will see large swathes of Britain swelter in a Sunday scorcher today.
Morning highs of 18C will soon ramp up to the low- to mid-twenties today as prolonged sunshine is seen across the country.
The temperature is expected to soar by a degree every hour – reaching a sizzling 24C, where it will stay until sunset.
A Met Office forecaster said: “It will be a generally dry and fine day, with long spells of sunshine and little cloud.
“There will be a small chance of isolated afternoon showers in Wales, west and north west England with light north-easterly winds.
“But it will remain fine and pleasant during the evening as well, feeling warm with just a gentle north-easterly breeze.”
‘UNSETTLED’ WEEK AHEAD
As the week progresses, the weather is expected to become “more unsettled”.
Met Office forecaster Nicola Maxey added: “High pressure starts to break down and there will be the risk of showers and some of these could be thundery in places.
“As we go through the rest of the month there are indications that low pressure will be in control of the weather.”
Claire Kennedy-Edwards, senior meteorologist for The Weather Company, said: “West will be best over the weekend, a northerly flow will mean the warmest temperatures will be over eastern Scotland and south-west England.
“Next week the north-west, south-east split returns bringing plenty of dry warm weather over the south and south-east of the UK.”
And if you’re not sure what the weather will be like for the next month – look no further than to July 15.
