UNION J star JJ Hamblett accused his model ex girlfriend of making up their son’s rare brain condition – resulting in an investigation that saw the mum and son separated for five months.
According to legal papers seen by the New York Post, former boybander Jamie Hamblett called the New York Presbyterian Hospital, where son Princeton, 5, was set to go under the knife and told staff that the boy’s mum, Caterina Andorfer Lopez, was lying about the illness.
He claimed she was suffering from a mental illness and wasn’t being truthful about the condition, which left the tot vomiting, and with headaches so strong he’d wake crying in the night.
The report claims that the hospital brought the musician’s claims to the Administration for Children’s Services, which launched a probe – meaning Princeton had to live with an aunt and grandmother.
After a five month legal battle against the ACS in court, Princeton was reunited with model Caterina, and after his doctor testified in court that Caterina was telling the truth, Princeton was finally able to have his surgery.
In the court papers, Caterina claims the five month separation was difficult for her son, saying: “was not able to have a normal life …he spent most of his days in bed, and it was very traumatizing on him as well because this is not our home.”

She’s now suing the ACS for $10m (£7.7m). Caterina and JJ split in April 2016, before getting back together for a short while in 2017.
Since their break up, Caterina has updated fans on Princeton’s progress as he gets treatment in the US.
Last year, she went on a huge rant about the singer ‘abandoning’ his son, writing: “This year I will be advocating for stricter laws against parents who abandon their children especially parents who abandon their children that are chronically ill or have a disability.
“If you bring a child into this world it should be your #1 priority to take care of your child.”
JJ’s publicist had no comment when contacted.
