US-UK trade deal: What does the US trade with the UK?

Trade deals have become a paramount concern of the current Government, which is now trying to renege on parts of the Withdrawal Agreement ahead of a potential no-deal Brexit. Should officials prove unable to come to new agreements before early next year, the country would end up without EU support, leaving the US as a potentially valuable and lucrative ally. But leading US politicians said they would disavow the Government in the case it breached international law.

Goods exports in the same year came in at a staggering $66.3 billion (£51.7 billion).

The USTR showed an American fondness for several British food items, including agricultural products such as snack foods, red meat, wine and beer.

Service imports included much the same, with financial, travel and transport most favoured in the “special” relationship.

The UK may forfeit a new trade agreement with the US following Brexit if it breaches the Good Friday Agreement, however, according to speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.

In a statement, she said there was “no chance” one would make it through Congress should the Government pursue its current plans.
