Lady Gabriella Windsor is preparing to get married to fiancé Thomas Kingston, 27, in just a few weeks time. Lady Gabriella is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, who is the Queen’s cousin, which makes her 51st in line to the throne. Although she is not a working royal, her wedding is still expected to have a link to her family and take place at Windsor castle. The wedding will take place just a year after Meghan Markle tied the knot to Prince Harry, but Gabriella’s wedding will be very different.
Meghan Markle, 37, and Prince Harry, 34, married at Windsor castle on 19 May 2018 and their cousin, Princess Eugenie, also married there in October last year.
Lady Gabriella has also chosen to get married in St George’s Chapel at the castle and will marry nearly exactly a year after Meghan, on 18 May 2019.
Despite choosing the same venue, Gabriella’s wedding is expected to be much quieter than others in her family.
Unlike Meghan and Eugenie’s weddings, this one will not be televised, making it a more private day.
Lady Gabriella may be part of the Royal Family, but it is also unlikely senior members of the family will be in attendance at her big day.
Family members such as the Queen, 92, Prince Charles, 70, and Kate Middleton, 37, are not expected to go to the service.
As Gabriella is a distant relative of the Queen, she may be hoping to keep her wedding low-key unlike Meghan and Eugenie.
Members of the public will also not be invited to the wedding or given access into the grounds on Windsor castle on the day.
When Meghan and Harry married, their guest list included many members of the Royal Family, high-profile celebrities and members of the public such as charity workers, school children and Windsor residents.
Meghan and Harry then greeted other members of the public with a carriage ride around Windsor, which is something Gabriella will probably skip.
The couple will take some tips for the wedding from Meghan and Harry, as the reception will be held at Frogmore House, where the Duke and Duchess had their own reception last year.
Lady Gabriella and Thomas Kingston got engaged in August last year during a trip to the Isle of Sark.
The couple are also expected to opt for a different kind of cake from Meghan and Eugenie, and an expert revealed it is likely to be a modern twist on a classic tier cake.
However, Bernadette Chapman, Founder of The UK Alliance of Wedding Planners and Business Coach, explained she might choose similar flowers to Meghan.
Bernadette said: “I believe Lady Gabriella will opt to use seasonal flowers.”
