SIX prison staff have reportedly been taken to hospital following a disturbance involving 40 inmates.
Reports suggest tempers flared at Whitemoor Prison near March in Cambridgeshire earlier on Monday.
It lasted two hours and a Prison Service spokesman said staff “successfully resolved” an incident today.
According to the BBC, six members of staff were rushed to hospital following the “serious disturbance”.
It is believed order has now been restored after staff spent two hours dealing with the prisoners.
Whitemoor prison is a Category A prison with more than 450 inmates including some of the most dangerous criminals in the country.

A Prison Service spokesman said: “Staff at HMP Whitemoor successfully resolved an incident on one wing of the prison this afternoon.
“We do not tolerate violence in our prisons and, where incidents like this occur, will always push for the strongest possible punishment for those involved.”
