SURREAL and satirical, it’s not always easy to decipher the wonderful world of David Firth and his extraordinary creations.
As the teacher behind Firth’s MC Devvo creation gets sacked, let’s take a look at the man behind it all.
Who is David Firth?
Born on January 23, 1983, David Firth is an English animator and comic from Doncaster.
Firth’s work often contains abusive language and dark imagery and explores topics of a surreal and disturbing nature.
He won fame after the third episode of his Salad Fingers series was featured on the front page of the website Newgrounds.
He is also known as the creator of faux documentary series “Devvo”, which satirises the lifestyle of a stereotypical “chav”.
Firth has also created short films and composed electronic music under the pseudonym Locust Toybox.
What has he said about his film?
He has been working on his first animated feature film, currently titled The Meadow Man.
In an interview with Vice, he said it was “gonna be terrible… The worst film you’ve ever seen”.
Asked what it’s about, he said: “All I can tell you is that it’s gonna be incredibly bizarre, dark and psychedelic.
“I want the viewer to get slightly lost, but not get lost and be annoyed.
“I want them to get lost and enjoy it. Then find themselves. It starts with a man in a very confusing job.
“He doesn’t even know what his job is, in fact.”
