Why isn’t Gareth Bale playing against Tottenham?

REAL MADRID come up against Bale’s former team Spurs in the Audi Cup on July 30.

Zinedine Zidane‘s side have endured a poor pre-season campaign, with a humiliating 7-3 derby defeat to cross-town rivals Atletico last time out.

With his future at the club up in the air, Bale wasn’t expected to feature in any of Madrid’s friendlies but came off the bench against Arsenal to inspire a second half fightback.

The Welshman proved his fitness in an inspired 45-minute cameo, but his relationship with boss Zidane appears at an all-time low.

Bale isn’t nursing an injury and looked set for a switch to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning earlier this week, which would have made him the world’s highest-paid footballer.

But Real kingpin Perez pulled the plug late on in the deal and, for now, Bale remains a Madrid player.

Initially he was due to travel with the squad to play in the Munich based Audi Cup, but after the saga unfolded Bale is not in the right frame of mind to play.

SunSport revealed how the forward was too upset to travel with the rest of his teammates and is said he to be furious with how Zidane and Perez have treated him.

As such he will not play any part in either of Madrid’s two scheduled games in the German capital.

Madrid play Spurs at 5pm on July 30, before Bayern take on Fenerbahce to play the winner of the competition in Wednesday’s final.
