Woman who said son, 2, kidnapped gets 50 years' jail for his death

A Florida mother who claimed her two-year-old son had been kidnapped by a stranger before admitting she beat him and left him in the woods to die has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.

Charisse Denae Stinson, 23, told police she and her son Jordan Belliveau were out walking on September 1, 2018 when she accepted a ride from a man named ‘Antwan’ in a white Toyota Camry.

Stinson told cops the driver punched her in the face and knocked her unconscious. Jordan and the man were gone when she woke up hours later in some nearby woods, she claimed.

But days later, on September 4, the body of her young son was found in several inches of water and partially covered with brush in woodland in the city of Largo. Stinson was charged with first-degree murder.

She was last Tuesday sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and making a false report to law enforcement. Jordan died of blunt force trauma. He had a skull fracture, a broken leg and cuts to his body.

The affidavit states: ‘As the victim’s health declined during the following day, the defendant carried him to a wooded area during the night, where the victim’s body was left.’

Stinson had told investigators that in a moment of frustration she struck the child, causing his head to hit a wall. Jordan, who had been in care for the majority of his life, then began to have seizures and she left his body in the woods.

Police had even released a sketch of the man they were hunting over the incident and Stinson denied knowing who he was.

At her sentencing Stinson, who also spent her childhood in care, said: ‘For a while, I was so angry and bitter before I came to jail. And now I’m free, mentally. I may not be free physically. But I want my mom to know that I am free mentally.

‘I am not held in bondage anymore, and that is the greatest gift that God has given me. And I thank my son for that because I was lost for a long time.’

Stinson’s second child was also taken into care.

She added: ‘I hated life, I hated myself. I didn’t know how to love. I loved my son. And I was so disappointed in myself because he did not deserve what happened to him at all. No child deserves that.’

A statewide Amber Alert was issued for Jordan before the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) said in a tweet: ‘THE AMBER Alert for Jordan Belliveau has been canceled. Sadly, the child has been found deceased.’

Police officials had characterized the mothers’ initial testimony as ‘deceptive.’

‘Initially there were parts of the story that the detectives felt were possibly not true,’ said Lt. Randall Chaney. ‘But at the same time, we are trying to find a child.’

He said need to find the boy was their top priority and they later learned the man did not exist.

Maj. Stephen Slaughter said in 2018: ‘During her interview, she would constantly change what she was saying based on the line of questioning.

‘There was no feeling with them that there was any remorse, only her attempting to escape the reality of the story by making things up as she went.’

Jordan's father, also called Jordan Belliveau, 24, told The Tampa Bay Times of her sentencing: ' of her sentencing: 'I'm not nobody's creator. I can't say when somebody dies. But that's what I would've liked.'

He added: ‘Her story about being in (Largo) Central Park was a deception on her part. In subsequent interviews she admitted she made up the story. The injuries were, by her own admission, self-inflicted.

‘In the time in question when she stated she was unconscious in the park, she was actually at another location, which is where we subsequently found the body.’
