In the same week she exchanged a war of words with DonaldTrump, 33-year-old forward Rapinoe cheered “go gays” after a 2-1 win against France in Paris.
The athlete said: “I’m motivated by people who like me, who are fighting for the same things. I take more energy from that than from trying to prove anyone wrong.
“That’s draining on yourself. But for me, to be gay and fabulous, during Pride month at the World Cup, is nice.”

Her latest comments follow a row with the US President after footage emerged of her saying “I’m not going to the f***ing White House” when she was asked whether she would visit if the USA win the Wold Cup.
The star has also urged her teammates to think hard about associating themselves with Trump.
Trump, not shy of confrontation online, was quick to respond to the footballer’s remarks.
The president accused Rapinoe of disrespect, adding: “I am a big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job! We haven’t yet invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose.
“Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her and the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!”
USA manager, Jill Ellis, was asked about whether she was worried her star forward’s comments would detract from her performance pre-match.
She said: “No and, to be frank, I wasn’t aware until the press officer told me. That’s the head down approach I have.”
The USA will face England’s Lionesses in Tuesday’s semi-final.
Rapinoe, who scored twice as the defending champions beat hosts France to reach the last four, said: “We face a very good England side who have some good players. They’re one of the big girls of the game.”
