A de-escalation process in Galwan Valley escalated into a violent stand-off took on Monday evening. This saw an Indian Army Colonel (Commanding Officer of an infantry battalion) and 2 Army jawans killed in action during a clash with Chinese troops. Senior military officials from the two sides are now meeting in a desperate attempt to defuse the tension.
The Indian Army said in a statement: “During the de-escalation process underway in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place yesterday night with casualties.
“The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers.
“Senior military officials of the two sides are currently meeting at the venue to defuse the situation.”
