Xbox Live WARNING: Fans can download new free Xbox One game TODAY


Xbox One gamers looking for something new to try this weekend before they think about buying have a chance at just that this weekend.

If you’re a current Xbox Live Gold members, you can download and play NHL 20 at no extra charge.

The only drawback being that this is a timed trial and part of Microsoft’s popular Free Play Days promotion.

NHL fans have until Monday, October 7, to put the latest game from the EA hockey series through its paces.

The timings are a little different if you live in the United States, ending before midnight on Sunday, October 6.

NHL 20 was only recently released on Xbox One and has been available to buy for less than a month.

For those who have played the series before, this latest yearly offering will feel quite similar to others.

And for those who are fans of Hockey but have never tried out game like this, this weekend will be your perfect chance.


As mentioned above, you will need to have an active Xbox Live Gold membership should to be able to download NHL 20 for free.

“NHL 20 introduces cutting-edge gameplay innovation to showcase your skills, more customisation to unlock your style, and new modes to compete with friends,” the official game description reads.

“RPM Tech-powered gameplay introduces Signature Shots that replicate your favourite NHL players’ real-world shot styles.

“Over 45 new shot animations make every attack a threat, and new passing and puck pick-ups create faster, fluid gameplay executed at full speed.

“A revamped broadcast package delivers all-new visuals and commentary. Combined with over 1,100 new customisation items for your club and character, your biggest goals look incredible during the action and in the highlight reel.

“Finally, NHL 20 adds three new game modes. HUT Squad Battles features weekly teams, built by athletes and artists, to challenge for unique rewards.

“The fan-favourite ONES can now be played with friends on the couch, and the all-new Eliminator mode in World of CHEL introduces winner-take-all competition where you and your friends compete to be the best in the barn.”

Due to the game having only justed released on Xbox One, there are no discounts available on the Xbox Store, as confirmed in a new blog post.

These usually are in place during Free Play Days events but won’t be for NHL 20 this weekend. Xbox One fans will need to find an extra 34GB of space to download NHL 20 on Xbox One, which is a pretty hefty size.

And if NHL 20 doesn’t sound like your thing, new Games with Gold titles were just released. These are available to download alongside the hockey game and include some interesting titles.

Tembo the Badass Elephant, developed by Game Freak, is available to install now alongside the Xbox 360’s Bolt.

“Shell City is under siege, and only one thing can save it: the peanut-chompin’, villain stompin’, Tembo the Badass Elephant.

These will be joined by new games on October 16, including Friday the 13th on Xbox One and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge.

“Or try to survive the night as the Camp Crystal Lake counsellors by either hiding as best you can or bringing the fight directly to Jason. Be wary, the woods are his, and you never know when or where Jason will strike!”
