Yankees’ Clint Frazier staring down latest round of MLB Trade Deadline rumors

At this point of his career, Clint Frazier knows what to expect when the trade deadline is approaching.

“I feel like it wouldn’t be a trade deadline unless my name was getting tossed around,” Frazier said Wednesday before the Yankees’ doubleheader against the Braves in Atlanta. “I feel like I can’t even remember the last trade deadline when my name wasn’t mentioned. But I’m still here.”

Frazier was acquired by the Yankees at the July 31 deadline in 2016 in the deal that sent Andrew Miller to Cleveland. Since then, his future in The Bronx has seemed in doubt, whether because of the Yankees’ outfield depth or his own immaturity.

Frazier will turn 26 next month and has quieted most of those maturity issues and has improved his defense.

And with the Yankees still having more than enough outfielders and in need of pitching help, Monday’s deadline means Frazier could wind up leaving.

“In the end, I just want to play,’’ Frazier said. “I just want to play baseball and get a chance to go out there and play every single day. I’m just looking at it as whatever happens, happens. I can’t really control that. I’ve mentioned earlier I’m done trying to play GM, but obviously it’s not a bad thing if my name is getting mentioned in there because maybe it shows interest of other teams possibly wanting to acquire me.”

Since starting the season 7-for-11 with five extra-base hits, Frazier entered Wednesday 2-for-16 with no extra-base hits in his previous five games.

And he’s confident he’ll have success wherever that is.

“I feel right now I have the ability to play at a little bit higher level than I have in the past because I worked on a lot of things last offseason,’’ Frazier said. “I’m ready to go out there and show it. Whoever it’s for is fine with me moving forward.”
